Nate Matlack joins the Kansas City Chiefs in a story that blends grit with professional ambition. Nate Matlack, my nephew, officially joined the Kansas City Chiefs earlier this week, a moment thats as thrilling for our family. Go Chiefs!
Nates journey began in Olathe, where he starred at Olathe East High School before making his mark at Kansas State. After transferring to the University of Pittsburgh for his final season, he wrapped up his college career with 61 tackles, 25 tackles for loss, and 14.5 sacks. The stats speak to his relentless drive and athleticism.
Despite going undrafted, Nates performance at rookie camp and his pro day (including a 4.75-second 40-yard dash and a 38.5-inch vertical) caught the attention of Chiefs scouts. When an injury opened up a spot on the defensive line Nate got the call, and now he is suiting up in red and white.
With only a few days left in training camp and preseason games underway, Nate is fighting for a spot on the practice squad. It is a tough road, but if anyone is built for it, it is Nate. His work ethic, humility, and passion for the game are unmatched.
